Intermodal

Coordinated Freight Across Multiple Modes

Sometimes, we need to get creative to keep your supply chain moving efficiently. Cover the distance by using multiple modes of transportation to ship a container. Rather than relying on a single, long-haul shipment, intermodal transportation uses a combination of multiple shipments and different modes.

Relying solely on trucking can increase unpredictability, given fluctuating gas prices and delays from roadwork. Intermodal uses a mix of rail, truck, and sea to reliably move goods between freight systems.

The First Mile

Intermodal relies on coordination between rail and truck. Drayage is what connects those two, moving containers between rail yards and their next stop in the supply chain.

We manage that part of the process by efficiently picking up containers and transporting them to the next location. Containers are picked up from the rail yard and delivered to their next location, whether that is a warehouse, distribution center, or final destination. For heavier loads, tri-axle chassis are available to support the weight and keep freight moving safely.
